The Red Avocado has had a long and winding history since even before it’s inauguration in August 1999. It began with the merger of 2 independent, though like-minded, restaurants: Aglio Olio and Veggie Vibes. These two had established a clientele here at 521 E. Washington St. over the 6 months preceding the opening of The Red Avocado.
During that time, the philosophy of The Red Avocado began to be formed. 100% Organic, 100% Vegetarian, 90% Vegan and an emphasis on seasonality.
In the here and now of 2011, that philosophy has adapted and morphed and become 100% Organic Food, 100% Vegan food, 25-90% Local, 90% Vegan beer and Wine.
